The European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) is pleased to share the Impact Report for the third annual ECTRIMS Patient Community Day 2024, held on 20 September 2024, in Copenhagen, Denmark, and online.
The 2024 event brought together patient advocacy groups worldwide to educate and empower individuals living with MS and related neurological conditions. Sclerose Foreningen, the Danish MS society, served as the primary partner, reflecting its longstanding commitment to supporting people with MS since 1957. Patient Community Day 2024 featured two interactive sessions covering:
- Remyelination and myelin repair
- Emerging therapies targeting progressive MS
- Risk factors, including the role of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)
- Lifestyle modifications impacting MS.
- Symptom management and cognitive enhancement strategies
- Diversity in clinical trials and registries
- New MS diagnostic criteria
- Paediatric MS challenges and strategies
- Advances in MS nursing practices
- Updates on Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) and Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody Disease (MOGAD).
The event saw over 300 onsite attendees and nearly 1,000 online participants from 74 countries. To ensure inclusivity, sessions were translated into more than 50 languages.
